GOBINDA BHOG - RAW

This traditional aromatic rice variety has a history of over 300 years; The Geographical Indications Registry (GIR) has granted Geographical Indication (GI) status to Gobinda Bhog, a speciality from Burdaman district of West Bengal. It is a short grain rice, with a buttery flavor which works well as a table rice. It is categorised as a ‘Khaas Dhan’ or ‘Special Grain’, because it is offered as prasad to Lord Krishna during the Janmashtami celebrations.

It is recommended to store rice in a cool, dry area. If it needs to be preserved for a long period, say over a month or more, dried neem leaves can be added into the pack/box. It is better to avoid storing in humid areas as this would cause pests to form faster. Since our heritage rice is purely organic, the husk is sweeter, which in turn could invite pests if not stored as suggested above.

High Protein; greater than 10 gms / 100 gms

Short grain, scented rice suitable for everyday meals and special preprations alike. The unpolished (brown) variant of this grain has a slightly nutty, earthy taste to it.
